What to expect at your first Chiropractic visit
On your first chiropractic visit, the doctor will evaluate your health history, talk to you about your concerns, perform a physical examination, and take any necessary X-rays. The results of your x-rays, physical exam, and case history will be examined thoroughly and will be used to help the doctor make an accurate diagnosis and determine a course of treatment for you.
The doctor will then clearly explain his diagnosis and illustrate in easy to understand terms how he reached his conclusion. He will go over the x-rays with you and explain how chiropractic care may be used to treat your injury or depending on your case, how chiropractic care can help you regain your health. He will also gladly answer any questions you may have, address all of your concerns, and finally, recommend a course of treatment for you. Based on the analysis of your initial examination, your treatment could consist of chiropractic adjustments, therapies and rehabilitation. After your consultation, the doctor will give you your first chiropractic adjustment.
In some cases, the doctor will need to adjust you using the traditional manual technique. In this method, he will use his hands and force from his body to help push the vertebrae back into place. The technique is a pain-free and relatively quiet procedure. In other cases, The doctor will make the adjustments to your spine using instruments. The tool we use in this process is called an ArthroStim. The ArthroStim allows the doctor to use the lowest-possible force to manipulate your spine, and it gives him the greatest amount of control over the adjustment. The technique is a pain-free and relatively quiet procedure.
After your adjustment, depending on your course of treatment, you may also receive other therapies such as electrical stimulation or ultrasound and heat. The treatment will feel like a relaxing, gentle massage. The therapy will help reduce any inflammation in the involved area of your spine, reduce pain symptoms, improve and maintain mobility of the vertebrae and accelerate the healing process.
